Ammann Canada Aims For Leadership In Product Support With Appointment Of Mike Byron

MISSISSAUGA, ON – Ammann Canada has taken an important step toward a strong leadership presence in the compaction market with its appointment of Michael (Mike) Byron as the company’s first Product Support Manager – North America.

Peter Price, the Ammann Area Sales Manager in Canada, welcomed Mike Byron to the company as a highly respected application expert who is well known throughout the paving and compaction industries. “I’ve known and worked with Mike for many years in the past,” said Price. “His knowledge of compaction equipment is matched only by the esteem he has earned from equipment dealers and contractors across Canada. I can’t think of anyone more qualified to lead Ammann’s product support strategy in North America.”

Mike Byron has represented some of the world’s top brand names in compaction rollers and light compaction equipment through a career in the equipment industry that spans more than 30 years. Well-grounded in equipment maintenance and paving applications, Byron also brings a sound foundation in parts and service management to his new position. Byron says he welcomes the opportunity to help Ammann achieve its potential in Canada as a global leader.

“Those of us who have seen how Ammann operates internationally recognize how the company carries out its commitment to supporting its dealers, technicians and customers in the field. Making Ammann the “number one” name in compaction in Canada will be quite a challenge, given the strength of its competition. But I personally believe it’s a challenge that Ammann can meet in the long term. I’m very honoured to be chosen to develop the product support initiatives that our future will build on,” said Byron.

Byron will start immediately to introduce himself to Ammann’s growing network of Canadian dealers and distributors. Among his top priorities for development is a detailed analysis of the regional demands for service and repair parts, leading to a new strategy of parts inventories and logistics. “As a technician in the past, I’ve been well aware of what service shops need from their overseas OEMs,” he says. “Along with ensuring the highest possible availability of service parts, we need to control the cost of dealer inventories, too. Our new ‘key component analysis will help to simplify service requirements and, at the same time, reduce the need for dealers to stock more costly components.”

Peter Price notes that, as a family-owned business, Ammann takes a great deal of pride in its personal relationships, reflected in the quality of its service and product support. Price believes this philosophy can translate into continuing growth for Ammann in Canada. “It’s like Mike says,” Price comments, “service outranks loyalty in our business. Customers here may not have much history with the Ammann name but, when they need us, Ammann will be there. We’ll get to be number one, one satisfied customer at a time!”
